Fab Freebie: Bug Off
***This giveaway is no longer accepting entries***
We love summer (who doesn’t?) but we hate the annoying bug bites that come with it (again, who doesn’t?). We’ve tried all sorts of natural bug sprays, yard sprays, and even incense sticks because we’re definitely not big fans of putting unnecessary chemicals on our bodies (I’m actually allergic to Deet) or our yard (Burger’s hunting ground). Which is why we jumped at the chance to try out a new, natural product called My Mosquito Deleter.

As you can see in the video below, the My Mosquito Deleter is a pretty simple system. It’s a bucket of standing water with a specially designed trap that, thanks to a special tablet, encourages mosquitos to lay their eggs in the Deleter. Then the trap keeps the newborn blood-suckers from ever escaping (cue the maniacal laughter). So while it doesn’t kill existing buggers, it keeps new ones from setting up residence in your yard, thereby cutting their numbers dramatically. We put our buckets out a couple of weeks ago and so far so good. The average mosquito lifespan is 30 days, so we’re still waiting for some of the existing blood-suckers to die off. But after that we’ll hopefully be itch free for a while.
And the good news is that four lucky winners will also take home their very own 4-pack of mosquito deleting buckets. Here’s the scoop (oh and let me know what you think of our the new, quicker-to-read format for freebie details):
- PRIZE: My Mosquito Deleter (four-bucket set- retails for $29.95)
- TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “BUG ME”
- FUN BONUS QUESTION: What bugs you? Tell us what your personal pet peeves are.
- GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, June 3rd at 8pm EST
- NUMBER OF WINNERS: Four!
- ELIGIBILITY: These Deleters ship internationally, so go for it whether you’re in Akron or Africa.
Beyond that, the usual rules apply: only one entry per e-mail address is permitted and the four winners will be selected using random.org and shared later in the week. Good luck and stay tuned…

BUG ME!!!! : )
Bug Me!! Hmm one thing that really bugs me is when people are going to be turning and don’t put on their blinker to let you know… come on!!
BUG OFF
Well, right now the many mosquitoes in our backyard are bothering me! We have been working on our deck expansion and my poor angles are eaten up from being outside working. This prize would be lovely! :-)
BUG ME! My pet peeve is inconsiderateness. People should just take other people’s feelings into consideration before acting, and I think everyone would be a lot happier. It only takes a second, but your actions could make someone’s day a whole lot easier. Thanks for the chance to win, and I do like your new formatting although I don’t think it is necessary… I think your old way was easy to follow as well.
BUG ME! I can’t stand when you let other drivers go in front of you and they can’t be bothered with a courtesy wave. Is that too much to ask?!
Mosquitoes LOVE me…so this will be perfect for my backyard. Thanks for the chance!
BUG ME! I guess my pet peeve would have to be anyone who makes any kind of mess and doesn’t completely clean up after themselves. Apparently they think I am the maid. LOL

BUG ME! I want to win one of these.
Something that bugs me a lot is being allergic to mosquito bites.
BUG ME
It bugs me when my neighbors let their kids play outside as soon as the sun comes up. There should be a morning curfew for when kids have to be quiet until at least 9 am so lazy tired adults can sleep in past 7 am.
BUG ME – I really get irritated with stupid drivers. I’ve been to suffer from road rage on more than one occasion.
BUG ME!! My pet peeve is when people don’t use their turn signal!!
Bug Me! I am currently suffering from many bites, so this is the best give away ever!

BUG ME….It bugs me so much when people drive slower than the speed limit!
Bug me! Definitely mosquitos; they give me the willies.
BUG ME! One of my biggest Pet peeves (literally) is from our dog, Porter. Besides his fur being left all over the couch and the muddy paw prints I find on a daily basis, the worst is the area around his water bowl. I swear he spills more water than he drinks!
BUG ME! I love the summer months, hate the bugs that comes with it!
-BUG ME-
Some of my pet peeves are people tailgating my car, people who talk way too loud in public, people who blow their nose in public, whiners, and folks who are always negative.

Yaay, finally a US contest in which I (dutchie living in france) can participate :-) This interesting bug deleting system would work wonders to keep bugs out of our fresh fruit and veggie filled kitchen !

Mosquitos really BUG ME! I have horrible reactions to mosquito bites. They swell WAY up and get all red and puffy. Anything to keep them away…
BUG ME! I would love to try this–my son and I have “sweet” skin and we’re the deleters for others since the little buggers prefer us they leave other people in the yard alone.
Pet peeve–people who leave their sunglasses on when it’s not sunny, inside, or when talking face-to-face with someone.
BUG ME! My biggest pet peeve is unnecessary or excessive horn honking.

BUG ME! My back yard is full of mosquitos due to the underground springs that make our yard a little boggy.
My pet peeve is people who carry on cell phone conversations in a loud voice and it’s obvious that they are hoping you are listening too.
