Sara’s Design Dilemma: Solved
Yessiree we have more mood board after pics for you! Can you hear how squeaky and excited my voice is about this development? No? Well, that’s probably a good thing. Here’s Sara’s letter:
We love our home office after following ideas from your mood board. The green, white & brown combo is perfect and we can’t thank you enough! And the closet, well, let’s just say I don’t dread anyone looking behind the curtain. Everything is in its place and if it isn’t (note the white organization drawers sitting on top of desk) then no one is the wiser! This room has easily become my favorite in our house! Thanks again! And I must confess that this room has been finished for a couple of months. So, this is my note to all other design dilemma peeps out there: if I can overcome my laziness and send in my pics, so can you- I’m not above begging for some of yours! Keep up the great work you two! -Sara

Didn’t Sara do a fabulous job? We’re so glad that her formerly empty office is now her favorite room in the house and we can totally see why. That organized closet is the stuff dreams are made of and that wide high-riding window looks balanced and welcoming with those lovely leafy curtains and the sleek white desk below. Thanks so much for sending the after pictures our way Sara!
Update: We sadly can no longer find the time to take on client commissioned mood boards (we now whip up general inspiration boards instead) but if we ever reinstate them we’ll make a big announcement!

Very nice! Though personally, if I had a room to put a desk in, I would go with a much larger, possible corner desk. None the less, it’s very calming. :)

Fantastic job! Sara, where did you get the white two-drawer paper organizer on the left of your desk? Sounds like a simple thing, but I’ve been looking for one and can’t find it! Thanks!

Just as a side note, i noticed that the west elm desk is sold out online…if anyone is interested overstock.com has an identical desk! it’s more affordable and it comes it both black and white :-)

Sara actually grabbed the white overstock.com version of the desk after someone in the comments on her original post mentioned it! Thanks so much for the tip though. As for the mirror, I believe that’s the $99 one from Ikea. Hope it helps!

I want an IKEA here in Colorado riiiight now! Those curtains are awesome. And $99 for that mirror?!? Holy cow… I don’t think that will fit in my carry-on suitcase back from Michigan this summer, unfortunately.

I do love the green/black/white color palette very much and it is the color palette of my master bedroom. It is so soothing and calming, which is always a plus for any room.
I love the way the office turned out. The colors work soo well together. Great job!

This was one of my favorite moodboards and I’m happy to see how she translated Sherry and John’s vision into her own. I like the change in curtains – from the plain white ones S&J recommended to the green,leafy IKEA ones. Great job!

Glad to hear you approve! We LOVE our office so much, it really is a calming space, and now that it is organized it actually stays clean!
Curtains, mirror and 2 drawer white box on desk are from IKEA…as are all the green and white boxes in closet.
The shelves in closet were from Bed, Bath & Beyond about 2 years ago. But I’m pretty sure Target has something similar.
The green slipper chair has not come to live with us yet. Two reasons: I’m a cheap ass, and been trying to finish the living room. And, in its place sits a litter box (stunned, disgusted looks from the crowd). We have no better place for it (the laundry/kitchen combo would just be gross) so it must stay in there. However, we have a solution for that, so hopefully the chair will be making its way by the time my birthday rolls around.
And yea, that is my Twilight box set…hands off!

gorgeous room. what is the name of the curtains at ikea?
Hey Donna,
We just dropped in on ikea.com to look for the name of those curtains and we can’t seem to find them on their site right now (although it seems as if they’re doing some maintenance since it’s Sunday at midnight). Hopefully if you check back in a bit and just look under “window textiles” you’ll see the leafy curtains in a snap. We sure hope they’re not gone, but Ikea has a habit of keeping things for a while so our fingers are crossed that they’ll show up soon. And in the off chance that they don’t we’re sure you can hunt them down on amazon or ebay. Happy hunting…
