Fab Freebie: Glow On

Who doesn’t love candelight? The soft glow, the romantic mood, the fire hazard… wait, forget that last part. Well, you can literally forget about that last part thanks to the bright minds behind this week’s giveaway from Smart Candle. Their flameless candles take the mess and worry out of setting the mood at your next dinner party, couple’s night in or spooky séance (if you’re into that sort of thing).
We were a smidge skeptical of these faux candles at first, but after receiving a set to take for a test-run, we were pleasantly surprised. The rechargeable LED light has an incredible way of flickering so randomly that you’d have almost no idea they weren’t real. Plus, their tea-light size means you can drop them into just about any of your existing votive candle holders if you ever need a change from the modern, frosted glass cups that Smart Candle provides (or even some cool luminary bags to line your front walkway). They’ll even look great in your windows during the holidays.

BETTY CROCKER FUDGE BROWNIE MIX!!! I am typically a baking snob….if it’s not from scratch I didn’t make it…but these bad Jackson’s are SOOOO good they’re bad! Gotta Try It!
I’ll fake it – especially for knock-off shoes from Target. A couple years ago I got a pair of peep-toe wedges for half the price of the department store version – and I still get compliments every time I wear them. This year’s best find is the Merona Eleora sandal….

Throw Pillows – I will buy CHEAP (ugly even) throw pillows at garage sales (.$50), throw them in the washer and dryer and then will ‘re-cover’ them by sandwiching the pillow between 2 fabric napkins and GLUEING them together. WALL-AH you have newly recovered (cheap) pillows that you can recover next season with little guilt!

While I love a leather bag and don’t generally find plastic shoes comfortable, I will totally wear plastic sandals all summer. The cheaper, the better. Target always does right by me and my favorite sandals last year came from (shhh) Walmart.

i’ll fake it. i fake bigger windows by hanging my curtains wider and higher than the actual window as advised by the youngsters.
I’LL FAKE IT! Um, we use “faux” everything as much as possible… I love the feeling of pulling a fast one on someone. Our new dining table looks EXACTLY like the mango wood table from Crate & Barrel (for $800), but we got ours at Target for $60 when their Home Decor event went on clearance. :)
i’ll fake it with soy meats–tvp for chili, veggie burgers, and fake sausage and bacon now taste better than the real thing!
“I’LL FAKE IT”……..I fake it with silk orchids in an actual orchid plant pot! The leaves are real and the flowers are fake and it looks like an amazingly crazy blooming orchid!
I’ll fake it! And I often fake a super clean house with the help of a laundry basket filled with random items and stuffed into our closet!
I’ll fake it…my favorite fake item is a watch i’ve worn for the past two years which my mom picked up for me in chinatown…$10 bucks and it’s still going strong!

I buy Betty Crocker sugar cookie mix and add some extra flour, almonds and a bit of honey for a awesome “homemade” cookie in about 10 mins.
I’LL FAKE IT….I make my crowd pleasing crab cakes with half real and half imitation crab. No one ever knows!
I’ll fake it!! They’ll go well with my “faux” suede duvet cover and shams from Target….
I’ll Fake It!! We use these candles in our RV and when our daughter -in – law saw them she said to our son, “Look, Ryan, this is what a romantic in the RV is like!” Faked them out……………
