Reader Redesign: Gotcha Covered
We just had to share this great repurposed light cover-turned-vase idea submitted by Camille. Here’s her letter:
I just wanted to share (just in time for spring) how I re-purpose old glass lamp covers to use as vases. They work so great and I see them at thrift stores all the time for just pennies. Or even pop over to a home improvement store and get them for around a buck! Different varieties and designs make a grouping all the more interesting. Enjoy! -Camille

I just noticed my husband removed one of our old old covers b/c it won’t fit around a compact flourescent bulb. Now I know what to use it for!
I like using old Santa Cruz Lemonade jars to put flowers in. They have a great shape and for $3 you get a jar of organic lemonade and a great vase. :D

That is a great idea! When the real estate market was better, we rehabbed homes. You wouldn’t believe the number of old “treasures” I have collected. I never would have thought to turn these cute glass globes into vases! I wonder how many other things I overlooked? :)
I never would have thought of that. I’ll have to keep an eye out for some of these! The details on the glass make them even fancier, and more original, than just a plain old vase. Thanks for the great idea!

This is a cute idea. Weird question, I know YHL likes to repaint/repurpose things. Is it possible to paint these glass jars? I assume so, but I don’t know how I would go about doing that.
I ask because I am all about simple, chic black accessories in my home (frames, shelving, candle holders, etc). I would love to see something like this only painted black.
