Hi John and Sherry,

I realize this comment is about 2 years too late, but I just wanted to recommend some battery powered fake candles for your sconces. I use them in candlesticks on my mantel and it takes away any wax drippage or burning down the house concerns so you don’t have to keep any eye on your candles. They sell them at discount stores everywhere in St. Louis right now.

Joyeux Anniversaire, Sherry!

My FI hates gift lists for the relatives because he believes in taking the time to really select a gift that you know the person will love. This has made for some awesome and meaningful gifts over the years, and he always does a great job — to the point of bringing home a pair of pants, laying them out with a pair I already have to check if the fit is right, and then exchanging just to make sure I don’t have to! He really is amazing.

I have finally convinced him, though, that lists are necessary with the large amount of people in our families at Christmas, and also for the wedding. Again, he doesn’t think we should be expecting certain things, but he finally realizes that everyone would be very mad if they didn’t have some list to go by.

Sherry, Happy Belated Birthday! The sconces look great in your little reading corner. My In-Laws live in Delaware too! They just retired in Milton from NY. It is a blessing to have a place to stay at my favorite place to be – the Beach!

The sofa is in fact the PB Basic from Pottery Barn and the bookcase in the first picture is actually from Bed Bath & Beyond (although we’ve seen similar models in a bunch of places). My birthday was the day before yours, only I am in the youth of my old age, you are still in your real youth. no worries, it just gets better and better. Gifts for birthdays? My hubby and I have not really done that for a long time. We take a very long vacation every year, and that is our Christmas/Birthday/Anniversary gift to each other. And the adults in my family no longer exchange gifts, I don’t really know why, I guess we just sort of outgrew it. I still get really mushy cards from mom and dad, and thats all I really want!
