Fab Freebie: Got A Light?
We love giving away lamps, what can we say. So if you didn’t come out on top last week, here’s another shot at taking home a stylish piece of lighting for your home.
This week’s prize comes from The Shade Shop & Lighting Gallery located in nearby Charlottesville, Virginia. They offer a diverse and ever-changing gallery of table lamps, floor lamps, chandeliers, sconces, tables and (of course) lamp shades. In fact, they’re brimming with excitement over the new line of Bunny Williams lamps that just arrived. Plus, the Shade Shop offers custom lampwork and repair, meaning if you want something unique they can make it AND they can fix it if you happen to break it.

Gimme A Light! What I loved about my college town is that it had a great pizza joint, the campus was easy to get across and it was only an hour’s drive from Cadillac Mountain and Acadia National Park. Can you say ‘Bah Hahbah’ (Bar Harbor)?

I went to college in Pittsburgh- a city that feels like a small town. I miss a breakfast place called Pamela’s most… banana & chocolate chip hotcakes… YUM!

Like some others who have already posted, Harrisonburg, VA was my college town. Nine years later, I’m still here… and I think it has a lot to do with the beauty of the Shenandoah Valley and the surrounding mountains.

I went to the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. It was a great college town surrounded by old historical mansions that we would walk by.

Gimme a light! I went to school in St. Paul, Minnesota and what I miss the most is going to my favorite bar and ordering a pitcher of bear and the best cheeseburger around!
I went to UC Santa Barbara. The campus itself is gorgeous and Santa Barbara was one of most beautiful places I’ve lived. The ocean, the mountains, the climate…and the artsy, quirky and outdoorsy vibe.

I went to UNC Charlotte. It’s in its own little area of Charlotte, NC sometimes known as “University City.” I liked going to school there because it was close to Charlotte’s downtown (or as we call it… uptown bc it’s on the north side). I loved going to the gallery crawls in the small arts district. The school was also near Charlotte’s ampitheater.
GIMME A LIGHT! Especially one reminiscent of an atom! Physics was never my strong suit, but that lamp has an elemental appeal.

Gimme a light!
I went to college in New Orleans… before, during, and after Hurricane Katrina, and what I love most about the city is the spirit and culture that only seemed to strengthen after the storm. Working at a day care center that had it’s own Mardi Gras parade where the kids rode in wagons and threw beads to parents and neighbors, gathering on the quad to have campus-wide crawfish boils with live zydeco bands, and joining up with volunteers across the city and country to help people rebuild their lives after the hurricane made my college town experience a once in a lifetime experience. (NOLA love!)
I hear ya Whitney! I was in college in NYC during September 11th (and actually saw the first tower fall right in front of me). It was a devastating event to witness firsthand, but it was moving and wonderful to see the city pull together and rise up stronger than ever under such terrible circumstances. I <3 NY!!! And New Orleans!

I went to the University of Tennessee – pretty much everything about Knoxville and the campus was amazing. Not a lot of people bleed orange in Richmond!

I hail from Drew U in Madison, NJ. I loved the campus, it was fairly small, and didn’t look like a big compound; it had lots of trees and small houses converted for different departments.
I also loved the proximity to NYC.

Gimme a light! Loved my college town – Bloomington Indiana, home of the Indiana University Hoosiers! Especially love the sugar cookies at Sugar & Spice in the Union. Oh & love Charlottesville too – my brother got his doctorate at UVA – great town!

Missoula, MT! If you love outdoor adventure you don’t have to look far. I love the active and liberal culture. There’s always a market or a festival to attend. The university itself is top notch and did I mention how beautiful it is here!

I went to Purdue University which is located in West Lafayette, Indiana. I just graduate two years ago so there is A LOT I miss, but most of all I miss the great food. Plenty of places to get breakfast and all of the fab bar food (pizza, wraps, burgers, I could go on and on) you can think of!

I’d love to win this light for my wife! My favorite thing about Durham NH where I went to school was the classic New England college town feel. Hard to explain unless you’ve lived in this part of the country but Fall up here is a special place.

I went to Florida State in Tallahassee and really miss football game Saturdays. I also miss when they were an AWESOME team:( We even won a National Championship when I was there. Now not even close. Time for Bobby to retire!

i loved pretty much everything about my college town. especially the fact that i can still go back to THE coffee shop that we all hung out at and see people i know (i’ve been out for 5 years!)
