Steal Of The Week: Our Favorite Bar
We’ve always admired the cool, graphic designs on Old Navy’s line of candles, soaps and lotions but had not yet gone as far as to actually purchase any of ‘em. That is until we saw that the entire line was on clearance this weekend…

We decided to snag 2 for $5 (marked down from $7) because, call us crazy, but we actually like to have a nicely wrapped bar soap on display in our master bathroom. We’re liquid soap people (as are all of our guests so far) but we gotta do something with the built-in soap dish, right? Plus, the black & white designs work oh-so-well against our black & white tile.

The one above is the Vanilla Bean scent, and we also got a Lavender Mint for when our mood changes. Do you have a favorite design of the bunch (we tried to get all of them in the first picture, so we think that’s a complete set above).
Oh, and it looks like Old Navy’s trying to move them out fast to make room for new stuff, so head over there soon if you wanna grab a few for yourself. We’ve been all about soap lately, haven’t we? Our next steal of the week will not be about soap. Promise.

good thing you are not planning on opening them, the packaging is nicer than the soap! how about wrapping some soap in some cute scrapbooking paper once you get tired of this one… just a thought. it does look super cute in your bathroom!
Guess what I live 3 miles away from the Old Navy outlet. I snagged some of these soaps awhile back for like $0.89. I love living next to the Old Navy, Banana Republic Outlet store. The perk of living in Hebron, Kentucky. I do love your bathroom design. So pretty the soaps fit right in. Lovely.
Great idea srabee! And since the soaps don’t seem to have a lot of use in their future (they’re 100% for show- and to occupy that built in soap dish), we can always recover them with patterned paper or even fabric whenever the mood strikes. I love it!
xo,
Sherry
Looks tres chic! You guys have the most fantastic ideas!
This blog rocks. I am so addicted.
Keep up the great work!
ok, first off, your comment on my blog cracked me up. i sew =) needed that today too. thank you, sherry! i love how the black and white looks with your bathroom. and i’m so bummed that my target (all three of them!) don’t have the cute soap dispenser. i’ve seen the soap and candles at old navy before but never purchased. i’m curious if the candles hold their smell or do they smell for the first light and then fade away after. i will pay a little more if that means the candle will smell good all the way to the last burn! oh and your bathroom made me think of this anthro candle (for the 3 weeks a month when your monthly bouquet isn’t sitting pretty!). (um, yeah, i have not a clue how to insert a hyperlink so here’s the long one)
Very cute! Speaking of soap, I saw your Target soap pump in the DIY magazine that features your article. I just wish they had it with the pump in the oil rubbed bronze finish.
My son (5) actually picked up a bar this weekend when we were shopping at ON. He chose the spiced pear. It smells yummy! Ours was on a buck & a half. I thought about using it to scent my dresser drawers. :)
When I was reading Sherry’s previous post on her make-up bag, I was wondering why there was a wrapped bar of soap in the soap dish in the background – I get it now! What a cute idea! I might have to copy it – especially since we are liquid soap users around here, too. Thanks!
I have to say that that bar looks much chicer in your bathroom than the one with the face-down gold seal. Good call!
The Anthro Capri Volcano candles is HANDS DOWN the most fragrant candle I’ve ever used- lasts all the way until the end, burns clean, and burns all the way down… I discovered them a couple years ago and keep buying one after another. Good call “The Rauths”!
I love this. It looks great next to your black and white tile. My main bath also has black/white and the soap dish is pretty lonely. I’m going to have to stop by ON and pick some up.
My mom buys great smelling bars from TJMaxx and gives them to me all the time. I love putting them on top of my stacked linens so they smell delicious!
pretty soaps/diffusers/candles i think are almost a must in the bathrooms. what i have yet to find is a nice container or pretty matches. if you find any pls let me know!!
also, these are great gifts to give as housewarming present. ppl always love receiving these things.
btw, tag you’re it!!! visit my blog at theadventuresofchunky.blogspot.com to view the game.
OMG–you have to try the Ruby Guava! I bought a candle in that scent 2 Christmases ago as a gift. I stored it in my “gift closet” when I purchased it in October and when Thanksgiving rolled around (when I start wrapping presents), I opened the closet to the Ruby Guava scent! It’s absolutely wonderful–I loved it so much that I kept that candle for me and burned it while I was wrapping presents!! :)
Since then, I’ve bought additional candles, reed diffusers, lotions and soaps in the same scent. My local ON usually has these marked on Clearance every few months…I just stock up each time!!
Didn’t even know Old Navy sold soap…I don’t get in there often can you tell? I might just for that soap though…so cute, but like you I am a liquid soap person and there would be no where for it to “live”.
First of all, I LOVE Old Navy and literally go there at least once a week, if not more. I love a lot of stuff they sell, but I especially love their candles. Particularly the Peony Plum Flower one. It is my favorite scent and I love that the candle burns evenly. I’ve had a few, so I can testify! My Yankee candles don’t even do that!

I bought a couple of the candles and reed diffusers a few years back, and like yourselves, was attracted to the packaging. I had the ruby guava and another sent I don’t see featured.. I have to say though, I wasn’t really impressed with the quality…. guess that’s also why I got them on clearance??
