A Video Tour Of Our Nest
You may have seen the old, grainy video house tours that we shot a while back using our decade-old, YouTube-averse camcorder. If you did, forget them. Pronto. And instead, head over to The Nest’s TV On Demand page to check out a new and (key word) professional video tour of our home (watch it here). It puts those other camcorder run-ins to shame… so much so that we’re not going to talk about them anymore. Agreed?
The fine folks over at The Nest stopped by a little while ago to tape the tour, which involved a pretty full afternoon of videotaping and doing our best to keep the cheeseball factor to a minimum. Both Sherry and I (yes, I was allowed to be in front of the camera for this one) described our favorite rooms, DIY projects and style hints while the cameras rolled (and rolled, and rolled). I think we both managed to sound coherent, but Burger still ended up stealing the show with his sneaky chihuahua antics. We should’ve known…
We hope you guys enjoy the tour (again, you can see it here). We’re thrilled with the final product, so a big “THANKS” to all the great people over at The Nest for inviting us to do the tour and putting together such an entertaining finished product. Burger sends dog kisses your way.

How fun! I know how the stylists like to come in and stage a house for a photo shoot or a video. Did The Nest folks bring in a lot of goodies for the video? Maybe you’ve already detailed that information in a previous post and I missed it.

Aww, thanks guys. So glad you’re enjoying the tour! We have to admit that the Burger part is by far our favorite, in fact we still cry with laughter when we watch it. Probably just because everything your “baby” does is hysterical to you.
Denise T- Yup there was a bit of sprucing and styling before the camera rolled, but they really made an effort to maintain the look that we live with day to day. Of course a few pops of color here and there look great on film (and it’s always fun to see some bright accessories thrown into the mix). Stay tuned for a much more exhaustive post about the whole experience, but it might have to wait a bit since there’s more to come…
Carmil- Yeah, it was a loong day, and unfortunately the sun went down before we made our way to the sunroom (the nerve!). I’m super glad they used the still shots though, they really capture the sunny space. It was just such a whirlwind and everyone was going as fast as they could!

p.s. The Rachel McAdams thing is always funny to hear. I actually got asked for my autograph a few times in NY due to the resemblance. The weird thing is that I don’t see it at all (nor does John or my family) but strangers in elevators sure like to call me Amy and tell me how much they loved me in The Notebook.

I love your still shots of that room (which capture it well), I’m sure you agree that the video doesn’t do it justice. Super cute! It was so nice to see a real time walk-through of your home – the way the space is laid out makes more sense to me now (rather than trying to assemble a handful of pictures into spatial relationships! :)

Those pillows were actually just borrowed from our guest bedroom where they normally live! They’re from Bed Bath & Beyond (purchased a few years ago) if it helps. You have quite the eagle eye!

That was sensational. Loved it! You two are natural design hosts…and really need to try out for the next Top Design or similar type show. I think I need to use you for the wall in my living room. Those boxes are from Ikea. They’re super cheap because they’re actually made out of cardboard, but reinforced with metal accents to make them look more legit. Hope that helps!
