Steal Of The Week: Console Yourself
We’ve had our eye on West Elm’s chunky console table for a while, but their after-holiday sales took it from swoonworthy to downright stealworthy. This luscious and clean-lined masterpiece has been marked down to $149.00 (50% off the much heftier original $299 price).

We love both color options and can’t wait to hear which one floats your boat. Do tell…

im a big fan of all things red, but I’d actually prefer the brown one for this.
Great blog! This is my first visit. Had to comment on your console table question because we actually have this exact console table in our entry area. We have the darker chocolate wood. I like the pop of the red, but unless you’re fully committed, the wood might be more versatile and have more stamina. We love ours. Makes a great landing zone for keys, etc. and looks great in the space. Just wish we could have gotten it for half price!
Definitely the brown. I like the more modern design paired with a traditional color (though I might also like it in black or white if those were options).
I like the natural color.
Go with the brown!! Firstly, I am not a red person, so there’s my bias. But also, I’m guessing this might go by the front door??? If so, it’s setting the tone for your house as it’s what they see right off the bat, and I think it’s much different than anything else (more nutral stuff) we see everywhere else. :)
I love the red myself. However, I think it depends on what room and what function you are desiring it for. I also agree that the brown has more lasting power than the red…but then again why live life in the “safe” zone all the time? It is the red table in a house that captures my heart…the big statement that makes my heart soar in a room.
Also…don’t you think you could make this table yourself…I mean it’s all straight lines and would be rather simple to put together with that cheaper wood. Especially if you want the red.
I prefer the brown. But, then, even though my husband isn’t sitting here next to me, I can hear him in my head saying, “I could make that.” And he could. So I’d probably let him make it and stain it whatever color he wants before I’d buy it. He tends to get a bit cranky if I buy too many things that he can make himself…
I definitely prefer the brown. It’s much more versatile and the grain of the wood looks nice.
depending on your space, that red table could be lots of fun.
i can tell you that i bought the modern console in acorn and am in love with the color of the “wood”.
as an apartment dweller who just spent another christmas without a mantel to decorate, this console table would do great double duty during the holidays. i’m so tempted…
With the wood looking like just a veneer my vote goes for the red.
I like the red…but since I’m cheap, my vote is to buy the wood and varnish at Home Depot and do it myself for half the price. It’d make a nice addition to your DIY section!
Hey everyone,
Thanks for weighing in on which color you guys prefer! And we must add that we’re sorry if we were unclear that this steal of the week isn’t for us… it’s for you!
While we’re actually not in the market for a console table- we thought we’d share this super deal just in case anyone out there was jonesing for a new place to drop their keys and mail! We regularly feature a bunch of items in our “Steal Of The Week” segments (some that we actually do snag for our home and others that we just share with the world since we already have a bed/chair/sofa/chandelier but couldn’t help but spread the word about such a good sale).
And as for anyone who might build it- we’d love to see pictures! We won’t be taking it on since we already have a console table that we love, but we’d adore after (and during!) pics if any brave soul dares to DIY one. Happy hammering…
xo,
Sherry
