Sharing Is Caring
So many great blogs, so little time.
Sherry and I had always been resistant to Google Reader, feeling like it would keep us from enjoying all the good lookin’ sites our fellow bloggers spend precious hours designing. But as they say, resistance is futile. We’ve finally succumbed and it’s AWESOME. Now we’ve traded reading fewer blogs directly on each site for perusing about 300% more blogs through Google Reader. Plus, it’s still so easy to click through to the real sites when we wanna see more or leave a comment.
Now that we’re quickly becoming BFFs with good ol’ G-Reader (yep, I already have a friendly nickname for it), we thought we’d take advantage of its “Share” feature to let you guys take a peek at what we’re loving out there in the blogosphere.

If you wanna become “sharing” buddies, you can either subscribe to our sharing feeds (mine is here, Sherry’s is here) or you can e-mail me at john@younghouselove.com and I’ll add your e-mail address to both of our friend lists. If you do the latter, we’d love it if you’d share your favorite items back with us (all ya need to do is click the share button at the bottom of each post that you dig and we’ll get to see what’s catching your eye out there).
Oh and since we’re still in the process of beefing up our Reader subscriptions, drop us a comment if you’ve got a blog that we should be following. Chances are it’s already in there (we’re bona fide blog addicts now) but definitely leave us your suggestions just in case…
And if you don’t know what the heck I’m talking about check out Google Reader here and learn about its sharing function here. Or just watch this quick video, which pretty much says it all:

I’m not normally one for shameless self promotion, but seeing that you asked:
Laurendy Home – http://laurendyhome.blogspot.com
Thanks so much for all the fabulous blogs links! Our Google Reader runneth over. There’s so much inspiration out there it’s mind blowing.
As for the question about if people can see exactly who reads their blog through G-Reader, the answer is no. As Amanda mentioned, it’s totally anonymous so go ahead and bookmark your ex-boyfriend’s blog.
And as for whether we’ll be updating our link love (and adding the other million and one blogs that we now read) the answer is: we definitely plan on it. It may take us a while to figure out how to include so many shout outs but it’s definitely on our to-do list so stay tuned…
xoxo,
Sherry
I have a blog…you two actually on my Blogroll as one of my favorites!
(Kathryn heads off to check out Google Reader…)
You asked! :)
I am one of two designers who write Emmy Lu: Pretty in the City, Lovely in the Country… a blog that celebrates our inspiration, design, and pieces of our lives and homes–an urban loft, and a country cottage. (I’m the cottage chic, Laura is the urban loft dweller)
Check it out at http://www.emmylu.com/blog
I also have a blog…we just bought a house before Thanksgiving, so I’m hoping to post more projects and “before and afters” more often now.
I think I will finally check out Google Reader. I’m like you guys–I love checking out the actual blogs, but I definitely think Reader will make this all a whole lot easier and faster. Thanks!
I still haven’t been able to get into Google Reader. I just love looking at the sites themselves. Maybe one of these days I’ll get the hang of it.
I have a blog too! I took a mini hiatis because work was so busy but it’s the new year and I’m feeling refreshed and rejuvinated. Love your blog!
Crazytown. I just posted on the same thing (minus the Care Bear stare) on Weds. Bloglines was crap, google reader is the bomb.
You still have easy access to this sites/original post. I find myself clicking from reader to the sites (like I just did to get here) often, epecially if I want to comment.
thanks for the information; i have been meaning to try this for some time, and now with your thumbs up I will do this later.
G-Reader question: If I add a blog to my reader feed will the blog owner know I have subscribed to their blog?
Quick question for you guys… for those of us non-techy readers (that haven’t jumped on the Google Reader bandwagon yet), will you be updating your “Link Love” so we can see all the fab blogs you are reading these days?? I’m always in search of a good read and a fresh new blog to check out!
I’ve never tried Google Reader but I’m sure it beats me constantly checking back with the dozen or so blogs I read to see if they’ve been updated (and it’ll cut down on my ever-growing “Favorites” list).
And since you asked, I just started blogging this year (New Year’s resolution was to get back to writing more and being more creative). You can check it out here:

Only just recently found you over at AT at the now infamous Homies… Have read your entire archives and am impressed :) Please feel free to visit my blog. Lot’s of how-to’s and DIY from Stockholm Sweden. Enjoy!
Oh how exciting to see so many other blogs popping up on this post! I’m embarrassed to admit how many tabs I’ve opened. I don’t use google for feeds, so I’ll drop in my hellos right here.
I’m an American in Berlin. My home is 480 square feet with a 36 sf kitchen. That’s what I blog about. http://www.makingthishome.com
On to see all these new sites!
Katie
Koca–subscribing to blogs (or any site with an RSS feed) in reader is private. The blog owner does not know who is subscribing to their blog. Mine has 4 subscribers (its pretty personal, so no big shocker there) and I only know who two people are.
I feel exactly like you about using readers! I only started about 3 weeks ago, very reluctantly, but found I could read way more blogs!! And I often do go to the original site so I can enjoy the actual beauty, but not every time.
well how else do you think that i have been enjoying your fabulousness every day?
:)
Come on by! http://www.whenagirlsgottagab.blogspot.com
It’s about life and fun, not really home decor. But I’d love to see you! Thanks for all your great ideas/suggestions/inspiration!
Mike and McGee here! We blog about renovating our suburban “builder basic” home, green living, gardening and parenting.

We’d be honored to be added to your blogroll and/or your G-reader list.
The funny thing is that I know that it is soooo much easier to use rss feed and I actually set them up whenever I find a blog that I like. But for some strange reason I like going to all of the actual blogs…. I know it’s lame. :)
My blog is http://thahotness.com
This is sooo good, I blog with google blogger and never even noticed I had this! Added you both.
You’ve been part of my blog addiction for quite a while so drop by Beach House anytime
I’ve been reading your blog in Google Reader for two weeks now… love it! (By “it” I mean your blog, and Google Reader, in general, and reading your blog on Google Reader specifically).
I wish I could direct y’all to my blog, but it’s about writing fiction, not home stuff. However, when I finally get to live in a real house, my need to tell the internet world about all the goings-on in my life may change that. :)
I just added you guys as well to my google reader. Still I little confused with it all, but you all inspired me to use it more and I just spent some time adding some of my daily reads.
Since you asked I also have a blog. I started in Sept. It’s about interior design and my tales of trying to break into the Interior Design world and start my own business.

Welcome to the wonderful world of Google Reader!
C’mon by my home renovation blog and say hello: http://www.19butternut.blogspot.com

I already told Sherry about my appointment with the giant potato cod, but as soon as I finish with it, I’ll check it out. I’ve been using Google Reader for a while for news and NewsFire for blogs, but never explored their possibilities.
Welcome to the dark side… I *heart* google reader!
And, in the name of shameless self-promotion: homeinthecities.wordpress.com
When we moved in, our house was without stove or shower. We’re hoping to fix that.
(I think you’ve got all the other blogs I read in your link love… I think I may have found you first when looking for renovation inspiration and built up from there).
Google reader almost ranks above sliced bread in my house. I mean, what if your hard drive flopped (knock on wood) and you lost all your bookmarks. A responsible blogger uses G-Reader for sho’! But if you ever change your layout, make sure you post about it so people can click over and actually check it out!
I’m all about shameless self promotion. I’m a newbie to blogging, but don’t let that stop you ALL from checking me out.

I’m sorry. I just had to come post again about how much I love that google reader video. A low tech instructional video for a high tech world. What could be better?
I have used Bloglines like FOREVER. But lately it loads slowly and sometimes doesn’t at all so I don’t know if I am missing posts. I am in the process of moving to Google reader (I have over 300 subscriptions to move though – boo!) but so far love Google reader! Glad to hear there are so many others that are lovin’ on it too!
Im a google reader addict too. Although I never thought to put little comments on the blog posts…good idea!
Ok folks, I’m officially going through right now and adding all of your wonderful blogs to our Reader subscriptions. Thanks for giving us permission to stalk to you virtually. :)
And foobella, I love these CommonCraft “In Plain English” videos. I actually use them a lot at work because they’re great for getting my less tech-savvy coworkers and clients up to speed on the latest technologies. They also cover other stuff like Presidential elections, saving money and zombies(???). Check ‘em out here:

Happy Reader-ing everyone,
John
Just saying thanks for the google reader info. It looked confusing to me in the past (and I’m pretty savvy) and now I’ve seen the light.
Oh, and I am in love with the CommonCraft videos.
Not that I keep meaning to post on this, but you can import your Bloglines subsriptions to Google reader. Just like importing your contacts from one email address to another It was pretty easy with just a little playing around.
Thanks so much for the Google Reader info – I’m definitely going to check it out. Since you’ve asked… here’s my blog. Hope you enjoy.

Now, I’m off to sign up for Google Reader!
Jill, don’t you mean “For Like Ever”
Sherry when updating your link love you might want to check out how Holly over at Decor8 has her’s set it up. It’s ridiculously organized, it love it.
Hey! My husband and I are updating our ADORABLE 1928 bungalow. Thought you might like to check out what we’ve done so far. There’s way, way, way more to come :)
