Maybe about a tablespoon? It's not a lot at all. Nothing runs out at the bottom. They're succulents so they like things dry. And they like to be in the sun. Hope it helps! xo, s

Then a little excess water won't be standing around the roots. This is also good for plants that like moist (but not sopping wet) soil.
