I'm reading this way late, but this is quite possibly my favorite post I've seen so far - thanks for all your fantastic ideas! I love setting a gorgeous table more than almost anything else - and these are super!

I was just at Hobby Lobby picking up a few things for Christmas decor (yes, already... early, I know!) and wanted to search the blog for this post. I had forgotten about the feather tree and how much I love it.

I think I will give a go at creating my own this year- thanks for that tip Sherry. Look-out, here I come with my glue gun and feathers- it could get messy!

I can't wait to begin the Christmas decorating season!

Love these! Every single one looks festive yet classy, and it inspires me to look at all sorts of things as potential decorations just waiting to be used in a new way.

Eeeeps!! LOVE these table setting posts! It makes me want to go play around with a bunch of different looks for our table. Thanks so much for the inspiration (not to mention taking the time to rearrange everything and take all those pictures).

Oh and we got the feather tree at a little place here in Bon Air called The Buford Road Pharmacy last year, but I've actually seen some at Target this year so it looks like they're popping up everywhere (which is always a good thing when it comes to the price).
You definitely could make one by glue gunning rows of feathers to a cardboard or foam cone (starting at the bottom and working your way up). Happy treeing!
Thanks for your prompt answer to my question! We also have a smaller dining room, but we squeezed in a wider table for more seating...(Yes, it's a bit tight here and there... ;)).

You are right, we tend to do family style, and leave the serving plates in the middle of tables, so people can get to more food later. We should definitely try the buffet next time tho! So we can leave the nice decoration in the middle of the table to enjoy them longer! Good idea!
