This One’s For You
Young House Love turns one this week (insert party kazoo sound effect here). And to celebrate, we’re doing a couple of things to mark the incredible year we’ve shared with all of you.
First, we’ve lined up a week of blogiversary-themed posts that take a look back at some of our (and your) favorite old posts coupled with some new stories and all the behind-the-scenes dirt. Plus we’ll give you a chance to weigh in on what Young House Love will become in year numero dos.
But before we do all that, we wanted to take time to say “thank you.” We never imagined 12 months ago that starting a little blog to document our kitchen remodel would snowball into full-time gig, and we have your enthusiasm and support to thank for that. Man, if only you guys could see how excited we still get every time one of you takes a moment to comment, well, you’d probably think we’re crazy.
What’s truly crazy though are all the strange and wonderful things that your support has brought us this year. We’ve found our way into newspapers and magazines across the country and are eagerly awaiting our debut on HGTV. (Oh, did we mention we even got a call from Oprah’s people recently?) And while the exposure is euphoric (somebody pinch us) the fact that we’re able to do what we love everyday (and still put food on the table) makes us feel truly blessed and appreciative for each and every one of you.
So again – it can’t be said enough – thank you for all that you’ve done to give us the means and motivation to do this. Just call us your number one fans.

And Cheryl, you’re very observant. Our internet TV show appearance hasn’t aired yet. Don’t know the whole story but it seems the production schedule has been delayed and I haven’t heard word yet when it’ll be up. But don’t worry, you’ll know once we know!

I just wanted to say that I found your blog a few weeks ago (now I can’t remember how) and I just fell in love with it. You were the exact kick-in-the-pants I needed to get some DIY things done around my little townhouse. At the risk of sounding super crazy and stalker-ish, I started with post #1 and am working my way through each and every entry! I’ve made a list of projects I want to do, and I’m starting to tackle them despite my crazy schedule. Thank you so much for the wonderful read – I am almost scared to get to the most current entries because then I won’t be able to spend hours reading your blog!

Hello Young House Love! I know this entry is from a looong time ago, but I’ve been living in the past (aka. catching up on your archives) ever since I stumbled across your blog a few weeks ago. Since I’ve managed to calmly and rationally (read: furiously and as if my life depended on it) read through a year of entries, I figured it was about time I leave you a little comment! You’ve been such an inspiration and I can’t thank you enough for having such a helpful and encouraging blog. I used to feel totally clueless and intimidated about handling home improvements on my own, but since reading your blog I have a brand-spanking-new attitude toward home improvements and decor! Basically, you’ve made me realize that I CAN DO IT! (…okay, or at least give it a good effort!) So thank you, thank you, thank you for the tips, the tricks, the mistakes to avoid, the inspiration, and the laughs. I look forward to reading the rest!
