Penney Pinchin’
You know how you always click the “clearance” button on websites with big dreams of finding something amazing for a really good price but all that remains is old holiday decor and weird stuff that no one would actually want, even if it was free? Well, I clicked the “clearance” tab in a recent JC Penney email with that exact experience in mind, and was pleasantly surprised. Turns out they had some stuff that’s actually pretty great for a lot less than you’d think. We’re all about mixing high with low (and low with low) so check out the clearance goodies we sleuthed.
Like this charming rattan stool on sale for $49 (down from $129):
And these chic storage trunks ($79-129, down from $199-299) that come in white, turquoise, or red (and are a lot cheaper than these Pottery Barn versions):
They also had this sleek red garden stool marked down from $159 to $69:
And this adorable etagere (orginially $249) now only $99:
Oh and it also comes in a beachy white finish. Decisions, decisions.
Of course there are still a bunch of questionable clearance items in the mix, but that’s to be expected.

Great finds! Thx for sharing.
We have a very similar rattan stool we bought from Pier 1 that was $100 (we had a few gift cards burning a hole in our wallet), so this one is a fabulous deal. We’ve used the stool as extra seating, as a side table, and once a friend’s little girl used it as a hiding place for a game of hide and seek (it’s hollow on the inside). LOL.
You know, you both should really be applauded for your thrifty finds. You source items from places I wouldn’t even consider. Those blue lamps from Walmart last week? I couldn’t believe you found them there. I would never even think to look at Walmart for lamps. I’ve clearly been over spending for some items in my home.
great finds! i love looking at JCPenney for home stuff –we’ve purchased a console table, a kilim rug for our foyer, a dresser for our son’s nursery and 2 pair of beautiful chocolate pinch-pleat drapes from there and have been super happy with everything.
and there is no reason to pay full price — my tip: you can almost always find a 15% off total purchase or free shipping coupon code (and if it’s an oversize item that they won’t allow free shipping on, just have it shipped to your local store and pick it up yourself — MUCH cheaper than delivering it to your house. :))

Yes! JC Penney! I had been eyeing a 250 dollar mirror there for months. It finally moved to the Outlet and I got it for 69 bucks! I have got to have that stool…

I love those storage trunks! The downside of reading this kind of blog is seeing things you know you can never buy. Aaaah… living in Europe…
