Sleep On It
Is it just me or is every every store boasting “50% off all home goods” these days? Sale season is upon us, so today I thought I’d share one of my sluthy sale finds.
Ladies (and gentlemen?), please allow me to introduce a non-rash-inducing bed-in-a-bag. The reason I specify that it’s non-rash-inducing is that most comforter, sham, and bedskirt sets are either literally so rough and gritty that they give you a rash, or just so gosh darn ugly that you break out in hives upon seeing them.
Now I haven’t actually touched this set so I can’t promise a cashmere-esque texture, but it’s 100% cotton which is always a good sign. And you can’t beat the 50% off sale price of 99 beans for a full sized comforter, two shams, a tailored bedskirt and a reversible diamond quilted coverlet. It’s a complete bedroom makeover for under a hundred bucks. And it’s totally hotel-chic, non?

Now for the shocker: it’s from JC Penney. I know, I couldn’t believe it either, but a deal like this is too good to overlook just because of the name on the door. Check it out on their website. And look, it’s equally as enticing in a muddy gray-blue:

I just watched your Before & After slide show. Impressive. Did I see some interim work in there? I was wondering if anyone else did that– Slap on some new paint, etc., to get rid of the awfulness until you can afford to do what you really want?
Yep, I have been looking at that very comforter in the blue/green color thinking it was very nice and crisp. So pretty! And the sale makes it very tempting.
Too bad we are on a “use what you have” kick for the year and new stuff isn’t on the radar because that is a great deal for a whole set!
Love the orange and taupe colours (but I may be biased because those are my blog colours ;) ). What if JCPenney is the “new craigslist” and the source of unexpected bargains? Great find!
That’s too funny Sherry as I was at JCP.com yesterday too, looking at the chocolate set! A great bargin.
PS. I love the delas you post, keep at it!
Yes please keep posting the deals. The set looks fabulous.
Kate,
Yep, definitely some interim work in our photo gallery. It usually takes us a few tries to get things right. And on top of that, we got married at our home last July, so we did a lot of temporary makeovers until we could get back in there and get ‘er done right.
Everyone else,
Sweet. So glad you like my sale super-sleuthing. I’ll be sure to make it a more regular occurrence on the blog- especially since it’s sale season and deals are everywhere these days. Stay tuned…

I bought that set last year! I had been looking for a Cal King bedspread and a new bedskirt, and I couldn’t find anything affordable until I ran across that bed in a bag set, which was the most attractive, cheapest thing I could find, even assuming all I used was the bedspread and the bedskirt. I love how it looks, and we discovered when the cat peed on the bed during a thunderstorm that it machine washes quite well. The only negative was that the bedspread isn’t as soft as the comforter.
I would love if you would periodically post great deals like this one. Your eye for design would really help us design challenged folks to find beautiful things for our homes.
We love sharing discount finds like these, so keep an eye out for any posts under the “steals & deals” category- along with anything listed as “window shopping” which also allows us to showcase items that are currently for sale (and sometimes also on sale) that we love. And don’t forget to check out our weekly mood boards for tons of accessories and furnishings that tickle our fancy (many of them on clearance). Hope it helps!

Do you remember the name of the bedding? The link doesn’t work anymore and I love the idea of a nice looking bed in a bag!! Thanks. :)
p.s. my husband and I LOVE your house. So beautiful, you are our inspiration. :)
So sorry we don’t. Wish we could be of more help. You could check ebay and amazon to see what they have. Hope it helps!
