All Good in the Hood
After 15 painfully slow days of waiting impatiently, our kitchen remodel picked back up again this Monday with the arrival of our replacement corner cabinet.
Which means that the installer could come over yesterday (right at 8am, no less) to put in the final cabinet (which had to be reordered from KraftMaid due to the fact that the first one was BACKWARDS). Mike The Install Guy also took care of a few other finishing touches while he was here: adding toe kicks & shoe molding, venting the hood up through the attic and attaching the last part of our hood- all little things but they made a world of difference (proving that the devil really is in the details).
Tell me that’s not a sexy hood.
And miraculously, after half a dozen frustrating phone calls to the sluggish Stonemark Granite people over the past two weeks we actually got them to agree to come out later today to start measuring for the countertops (even though we were originally told repeatedly that we’d have to wait 9 more days- um, no thanks).
That means that our new granite countertop is a mere 2-3 weeks away from being installed. Wahoo. I know 2-3 weeks doesn’t exactly qualify as “mere,” but let a guy lie to himself a little, will ya?

Now that your hood is in place (it’s really beautiful), how do you like it. Is it quiet at high speed? It’s been difficult getting consumer reactions to the Arietta hoods, any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks, Joe. Since we’re still countertop-less, we haven’t done any heavy duty cooking yet to really put its venting capabilities to the test. But we have tried all 3 fan speeds and have been very satisfied with it so far. The first two are very quiet (lowest is hardly detectable) and the third is still quieter than our old hood. The worklight, clock and timer are also nice bonus features.
We’ve been getting a lot of questions about it so we’ll be sure to update everyone with a post once we start doing some serious cooking.

I also bought an Arietta range hood fan and am looking forward to seeing how well it works when it is installed in the next few weeks. I too have had several people tell me they are waiting to hear about it!
HD and Arietta could certainly use some info on the web. Their fans are such a good value, and look great.

Here’s a quick update: Hood is great. We’re still in love with it. It works perfectly has three fan settings – two are very quiet, the third is more heavy-duty. We’re actually posting a full house tour video soon that actually features a hood-noise demonstration for all you curious people. But again, no complaints so far. I’d say go for it.
